As a business coach, I’ve had the opportunity to work with many entrepreneurs who say they want to have a successful, satisfying and profitable business.

It’s a dream for many people to have this, but truthfully, not everyone with this dream is likely to make it their reality.

Why so?

Simply put, it’s because not everyone is prepared to do what it takes to make their dreams come true.

There’s no doubt that many would love to have everything that comes with financial success, but when push comes to shove, they’re simply not willing to do what is required to achieve it.

They’re not prepared to step outside their comfort zone and create a new reality for themselves.

They’re not prepared to invest in gaining the knowledge they need to change their direction and they’re not prepared to implement the things that they’ve learned.

For many, it’s so much easier to slip back into bad old habits, but unfortunately, it will also keep them in exactly the same place where they already are, and that is struggling to make a decent living.

Too often I hear things like “I just don’t have the time”, “I really don’t enjoy doing the business side of things” or “I’ve decided that I want to work to live, and not live to work”.

In the end, this is their choice, however, these are the kind of statements that guarantee that nothing will ever change and their dreams will stay just that.

If you’ve been guilty of making these kinds of statements ( or even just thinking them), then perhaps it’s time to decide whether you are prepared to accept life as it is, or whether you are truly ready to make the changes necessary to become more successful.

Being a successful business owner requires that you have a commitment not only to your clients and your staff but also to your business.

How many courses have you invested good money into, but never done anything constructive with the information you’ve been given?

How many great ideas from articles, webinars or seminars have you never acted upon?

How many fantastic business books have you simply put down and forgotten about after you have read the last page?

What happened to all that great knowledge that you’ve been exposed to?

Do you make sure you take something away with you and implement it into your salon every time you’re given a great idea, or does it just end up in the too hard basket?

Here’s a fact – success never happens by accident.

It’s never a result of wishful thinking or continuing to do the same things day after day and week after week, even though you know it doesn’t produce positive results.

The truth is that successful people become successful because they’re prepared to learn what they don’t already know, implement what they learn consistently and continue to grow.

Nothing in life can remain static – if you are not moving forward then you are moving backwards.

If you find the “too hard basket” a comfortable place to rest your dreams, then it’s time to sit back, get used to your life and stop complaining about why you are not doing as well as the salon down the road.

Tough words, I know, but hopefully words that will jettison you out of your comfort zone and back into a place where you begin to make some serious changes in your business.

The kind of changes you know will move you forward.

As the famous motivational speaker Anthony Robbins likes to say “If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten”… and I couldn’t agree more.

Without being prepared to learn new skills, implement the actions necessary and do the hard yards that come with business ownership, then it is impossible to expect anything to change.

Let me ask you this.  When does the responsibility for your success become your responsibility?

So, the question remains  “Do you have what it takes to be successful in your business?”
